We still don't fully understand space, our solar system, and the galaxy. It's a big place. Scientists' understanding of space is always changing since there are billions of galaxies and stars out there, as well as planets in our own solar system that have not yet been thoroughly studied or understood. But we do currently know some extremely interesting facts about space! We've put up a list of ten amazing facts that we think you'll find to be out of this world.
1. THE SPACE IS SILENT
Due to the absence of an atmosphere in space, sound cannot travel there and cannot be heard.
2. OUR SOLAR SYSTEM'S HOTTEST PLANET HEATS UP TO 450° C.
The average surface temperature of Venus, the hottest planet in the solar system, is about 450° C. Venus isn't the planet that is nearest to the sun, did you know that? Mercury is that. The hottest would seem to be Mercury, but since it lacks an atmosphere (which controls temperature), there are large temperature swings.
3. $12,000,000 US DOLLARS IS THE COST OF A COMPLETE NASA SPACE SUIT.
The backpack and controls module accounts for 70% of the suit's total price of $12 million. However, NASA's space suits were created in 1974. These would likely cost $150 million if they were priced according to today's standards!
4. THE SOLAR SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF 99.86% OF THE MASS OF THE SUN.
With a mass that is roughly 330,000 times that of the Earth, the Sun makes up 99.86percent of the overall mass in our solar system. Did you know that the Sun contains approximately three-quarters hydrogen and the remaining four percent helium? Would the Sun's voice, if it had one, be high and squeaky due to all that helium?

5. 1,000,000 PILES OF EARTH CAN FIT WITHIN THE SUN
If the Earth were compressed into the Sun, it could fit within by around 1.3 million, or 960,000 if they kept their spherical shape. But how many Earths can you imagine?
6. THERE ARE MORE TREES ON EARTH THAN STARS IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE
On Earth, there are about three trillion trees, and the galaxy has somewhere between 100 and 400 billion stars.
7. THERE IS A BLUE SUNSET ON THE MARS
According to NASA, sunsets on Mars would appear bluish to human viewers viewing from the red planet, just as colors are intensified in Earth's sunsets. While regular daylight makes the famous rusty dust color of the Red Planet the most noticeable to the human eye, fine dust significantly increases the visibility of the blue near the Sun's portion of the sky.
8. THE UNIVERSE CONTAINS MORE STARS THAN SAND GRAINS ON PLANET EARTH
Scientists can only make an educated guess as to how many stars there are in the cosmos because it goes well beyond our own galaxy, the Milky Way. However, according to estimates from scientists, there are roughly a septillion stars in the cosmos. Although no one has ever been able to count every single grain of sand on the planet, researchers at the University of Hawaii have estimated that there are roughly seven quintillions, five hundred quadrillion grains in existence. That sandcastle is quite large!
9. A DAY ON VENUS LASTS MORE TIME THAN A YEAR.
Due to Venus' sluggish axis rotation, one day on Venus takes 243 Earth days to complete. A year on Venus is 18 days shorter than a day there due to Venus's 225 Earth-day orbital period around the Sun.
10. DIAMOND PLANET EXISTS.
A planet composed of diamonds that is twice the size of Earth exists. Graphite and diamond are probably found all across the "super earth," also known as 55 Cancri e. The $12 million space suit required to travel there would definitely be covered by a visit to that planet!

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION- ISS
At speeds that literally defy gravity, the International Space Station, home to the ESA's Columbus laboratory, soars 400 kilometers into the air. With a speed of 28 800 km/h, the weightless laboratory can circle the planet in just 92 minutes. There are 16 sunrises and sunsets per day for the astronauts who are living and working aboard the Station.
